The following information will be particularly useful to all French/Australian non-for-profit associations…
There are two major formalities to follow each year for associations:
1. Ensure that your non-for-profit association is registered or up to date on the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Register.
The ACNC Register contains information about the more than 54 000 charities registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). The charities listed on the Register have met the ACNC’s legal meaning of being a charity and other requirements under our Act, and have ongoing obligations to the ACNC, including keeping their information on the Register up-to-date.
2. Report and file your incorporated association’s annual statement to Consumer Affairs Victoria
All incorporated associations must submit their annual statement to Consumer Affairs Victoria. Steps must be taken before the annual general meeting (AGM) in preparing financial statements. At the AGM itself, the committee presents the financial statements to the members, after which a member certifies these statements were indeed presented at the meeting. After the AGM, annual statements must be lodged online using your myCAV account within one month of your annual general meeting.
