The photographic collection on the First World War “The Little Soldier”, compiled by a French-Australian couple launched its French edition  on 4 October [Seuil Jeunesse edition ]. Keep your eyes open for its English publication in 2019 by Candlewick Press and Walker Books!

The book recounts the history of the soldiers and their living conditions during the First World War through four stories belonging to four different soldiers. The graphic design is quite distinct from other books: Pierre-Jacques Ober and his wife, Jules Ober, created miniature sets in which the soldier figurines pose in front of the lens. A new narrative form that is both deeply evocative and poetic.
