The George Rudé Society—the peak body of French historians in Australia and New Zealand—in association with the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Alfred Deakin Research Institute, Deakin University, will commemorate the centenary of the Great War on the theme of ‘France 1914’.
This one-day conference, open to the general public, at the State Library of Victoria on 15 July 2014, brings together leading historians of and legacy, and our ongoing commemoration of the war dead. This is a unique chance to hear the latest scholarship from leading specialists.
Speakers include Annette Becker (University of Paris), Jay Winter (Yale), John Merriman (Yale), Martyn Lyons (University of NSW), Charles Sowerwine & Colin Nettelbeck (University of Melbourne), Simon Kitson & Maartje Abbenhuis (University of Auckland).
