On Wednesday 17 March, the Alliance Francaise French Film festival held its A Taste of France event at the Kino Cinema. In addition to the screening of the film Delicious, guests were treated to a delightful picnic basket prepared by the chefs of the Sofitel hotel and a glass of Dominique Portet wine. This event proved to be so popular that a second screening had to be made available!
Among the attendees were MP Nina Taylor, representing the Victorian State Minister for multicultural affairs and Honorary Consul of France Myriam Boisbouvier-Wylie both of whom addressed the audience before the commencement of the film.
Guests were treated to a preview for Caudalie. This short film was produced by the Bastille Day French Festival committee thanks to a digital grant they received from the Victorian State Government. It tells the story of the Portet family of winemakers in the Yarra valley and the melding of French tradition with Australian innovation. The film had its digital première the following day and can be viewed on the Bastille Day website.
The guests then settled in to enjoy the screening of Delicious: a tale of the creation of France’s first restaurant, born of the eve of revolution. This film is still screening at the AFFFF if you wish to see it. LAST DAYS!
