On Saturday the 25th of July at 2pm, there was the opening of ”Impressions of Paris” at the MGA (Monash Gallery of Art). The MGA will be hosting this travelling exhibition from the National Gallery of Australia from the 17th of July until the 20th of September 2015.
This exhibition of the National Gallery of Australia is featuring over 120 prints, posters and photographs from four key French art figures of the nineteenth century : Honoré-Victorin Daumier, Edgar Degas, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Eugène Atget. Each of these artists embraced modern subject matter through innovative compositions that played a significant role in artistic developments in France during their lifetimes.
For this occasion, Mrs Myriam Boisbouvier-Wylie, Honorary Consul General of France in Melbourne said a few words, along with Kallie Blauhorn, director of the MGA and Dr Gerard Vaughn AM, director of the National Gallery of Australia, to officially open the show,
