After many missed opportunities, Lionel Jospin, former French Prime Minister, finally set foot on the Australian soil for the first time a week ago. Invited by RMIT University which was hosting the Australian Society for French Studies (ASFS) Conference 2014, he delivered their Tom Nairn Lecture. This was the occasion of a few events organised around his visit including the introduction of his lecture by Former Australian Prime Minister the Hon. Paul Keating. 

On Friday 5th of December, the French community of Melbourne had the opportunity to meet him during an “Aperitif” held at the State Library of Victoria.
