François Hollande’s visit to Telopea Park School

On Wednesday 19th November, the President of the French Republic, Mr. François Hollande, visited Telopea Park School, Lycée Franco-Australien in Canberra. A binational French-Australian school since 1983, it is accountable to both the French and the Australian authorities.

The official French delegation received a traditional welcome by the elder of the local aboriginal community, traditional owner of the land. The President reminded the students, aged between 5 and 16, of the importance of remembering what happened during the First World War, taking the example of Villers-Bretonneux and Strathewen Primary schools that have forged indelible links, still alive today.

François Hollande concluded on the need to preserve the planet for the younger generations.
