On a sunny summer evening on 21 January members of the Consular Corps gathered at Government House for an Australia Day Reception. Members of the Consular Corps were able to sample an assortment of Victorian produce, including wine, cheese, olives and meats, an opportunity for the Governor to showcase Victorian vendors and their world-class produce. In accordance with social distancing restrictions, the event took place in the courtyard of Government House.
Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria addressed in her speech the difficulties Victorians had faced during the past year, brought about by both the bushfires and pandemic, through she finished with an optimistic note, highlighting the importance of collaboration in rebuilding the economy. She particularly thanked the Consular Corps for the role they played in supporting Victorian communities during the challenging year of 2020.
With such agreeable company and fine food, the reception proved to be a delightful evening!
