On Sunday 23 April 2017, France held the 1st round of the Presidential elections. In Victoria, the elections have taken place in the Alliance Française in St Kilda.
The turn out was higher than expected at some moment. This created a long wait and some grumbling in the line outside.
A second round is organised in the same polling station on Sunday 7 May 2017 with modifications to the organisation to make the process faster and longer opening hours from 8am to 8pm. The second round will see either Emmanuel Macron or Marine Le Pen elected as President.
