Good news for French Nationals living abroad!
Since the 1st of March 2016, the Defender of Rights has a local delegate in charge of French living overseas.
The Defender of Rights is an independent authority designed to defend the rights of individuals or legal entities, it is confidential and free of charge. It was established following the constitutional revision of 2008 by the merger of three previously separate institutions: the Ombudsman, the Ombudsman for Children and the National Security Ethics Commission.
The main mission of the delegate in charge of the French overseas is to centralize files from expatriates , to facilitate referral to the Defender of Rights by French established outside France and to ensure the responses will take in account their specific situation.
