On the evening of Monday 16 November, in support of the families of the victims of the indiscriminate and gratuitous attacks in Paris, the French community of Melbourne spontaneously organised a rally at Federation Square. With French flags, posters and balloons, the crowd was solemn and united.
Attended by thousands, the event was managed by a group of young French people including Laura, Thomas, Charlotte, Emilie and Marine with remarks delivered by The Hon. James Merlino MLA, Deputy Premier of Victoria who represented the Premier of Victoria, The Hon. Inga Peulich MLC, who represented the Leader of the Opposition and Mrs Myriam Boisbouvier-Wylie, Honorary Consul-General of France in Victoria.
