Ceremony in honour of Major General H.E. “Pompey” Elliott

On Saturday, March 23rd, the commemoration ceremony will be held in honor of the 93rd anniversary of the death of Major General H.E. “Pompey” Elliott, organized by the Friends of the 15th Brigade, at the Burwood Cemetery.

Harold Edward “Pompey” Elliott, soldier, lawyer, and politician, was born on July 19, 1878, in West Charlton, Victoria. He served as a senior officer in the Australian Army during the First World War. After the war, he became a senator for Victoria in the Australian Parliament.

On this occasion, Mr. Lambis Englezos, AM, a member of the ‘Friends of the 15th Brigade’ association, will introduce the event with a few words of welcome. He will be followed by a guest, Dr. Ross McMullin, historian and author of the biography of “Pompey”. Finally, a minute of silence will be observed in his honour.
