New record for Melbourne !

In 2023, 1216 applications for passports and ID cards have been received by the consular agency in Melbourne. This number represents an increase of 35% compared to the 905 applications made in 2022. . It also makes Melbourne as the most active consular agency in Australia!

Since the end of the pandemic, the French consular network in Australia has faced a significant increase of identity and travel titles. The reason is the rise of applications by the French binational citizens who are making their first application for a  French passport or/and ID card.

In total, adding the statistics of the three Honorary Consulates in Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane, to the figures of the Consulate General of France in Sydney and including the consular tours, 7457 applications of travel and identity titles have been treated in Australia in 2023. This represents an increase of 10% against 2022, which was already a record year in terms of passports and ID demands.

In Melbourne  there is only one consular agent in charge of the processing of all administrative documents which may explain the delays in getting an appointment at times..

Despite this, we are doing our best to satisfy the requests and ease the administrative processes for the French nationals in Victoria.
