French Language School and Playgroup in Fitzroy

On Saturday August 26, the Honorary Consul General of France in Melbourne, Myriam Boisbouvier-Wylie went to Fitzroy to visit the team members of the French Bilingual Association , and see their activities in action. She was welcomed by the President, Anne Vranes who introduced her to the rest of the committee and the team of teachers, around a delicious array of French pastries.

The French Bilingual Association (FBA) is an Australian not-for-profit association based in Northern Melbourne. This group of motivated parents are instrumental in supporting the French-English Bilingual Immersion Program launched in 2020 at Fitzroy Primary School.

They also organise every Saturday morning a language school for the pupils who cannot attend Fitzroy Primary School due to distance or age; l‘Ecole du Samedi. Children from 3 to 12 years old from French-speaking/bilingual families.can learn and practise their French with qualified teachers in an inclusive and friendly environment.

The playgroup “the little frogs”, les Petites Grenouilles, is another activiy taking place on Saturday mornings, in the school grounds of Fitzroy Primary Schol. Children (0-3 years old) and their parents have the opportunity to mingle, have fun and speak French!
