What happens when a koto and cello play alone? Or together? When a Scottish harpist writes for Japanese koto or a French songwriter makes cellos dance? Or when Australian composer Jakub Jankowski writes a new work for a trio of string sonorities? This transnational and multicultural concert promises a unique experience that you will not forget.
On the 26th of August at 7pm join French cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras and Musica Viva Australia for their new concert ”Silk, Metal, Wood” at the Melbourne Recital Center. This exicting performance showcases Bach, Britten and Offenbach duo and solos for cellos but also solo on the koto, Japan’s national instrument and ancient 13-stringed zither.
This concert will host Jean-Guihen Queyras, renowned for his adventurous artistic spirit in collaboration with Satsuki Odamura, a distinguished master of the Japanese Koto, and up-and-coming cellist and Australian National Academy of Music alumnus, James Morley.
