As every year, the French RSL Association, les Anciens Combattants Français du Victoria, gathers during Bastille Day at the Shrine of Remembrance, to pay homage to the French and Australian soldiers who lost their lives protecting the values of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity so dear to the French Republic.
The ceremony began with a speech by Gilbert Charbonnier, the President of the Anciens Combattants Français du Victoria.
Myriam Boisbouvier-Wylie, the Honorary Consul General of France in Melbourne, reflected on the rich history of France and spoke of the sacrifices made by French and Australian Troops to uphold their values and freedom, before laying a wreath as a tribute to their memory.
The event was followed by a veteran’s lunch to celebrate the occasion.
Lest we forget.
