A panel discussion on the future of Australia and EU research collaboration in the fields of space, artificial intelligence, and technology will be held on Friday 12 May to celebrate Europe Day. Co-hosted by the EU Delegation to Australia, RMIT University EU Centre, the European Studies Association of Australia and New Zealand (ESAANZ), the Australian Institute of International Affairs (AIIA) Victoria, and the Eureopena Consular Corps of Melbourne, the event features speakers who will discuss the key drivers for cooperation and innovation in these areas, as well as the expected developments and breakthroughs in the coming years.

The panelists include :

• • HE Mr Gabriele Visentin, EU Ambassador to Australia,
  • Nishant Shandilya, Regional Coordinator – Australia and New Zealand, EURAXESS Worldwide
  • Dr Rebecca Allen – Co-Director of Swinburne Space Technology and Industry Institute (expertise in collaboration with Germany in space technology)
  • Dr Chetan Arora – Senior Lecturer in Software Engineering, with a focus on Applied Artificial Intelligence

The event is free and available for both in-person and online attendance, but registration being essential. If you attend in person, a buffet lunch will be available, followed by a networking coffee.

The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Emma Shortis, Lecturer in the European Union Centre of Excellence at RMIT University. The aim of the event is to explore how joint efforts in these areas can lead to a more sustainable, equitable, and prosperous future for all.

The main questions debated will be: What are the key drivers for cooperation and innovation in space, AI and technology? What can we expect in the coming years in terms of developments and breakthroughs? How can we ensure that our joint efforts lead to a more sustainable, equitable and prosperous future for all?
