Claire Ropartz, a Melbourne-based French photographer, has always been inspired by her numerous travels and her native city of Paris.
At the opening of her exhibition ‘Flânerie Parallèle’ on the 35th Floor of the Sofitel Hotel, on 27 April, Claire mentioned how she was fascinated by Melbourne’s Paris end of Collins. Drawing on the charm of local businesses in and around Collins Street Precinct, her photographs capture the allure of local artisans, artists, architects and craftsmen and women.
If you look closely at some of her works you will notice a contrast between the blurry and the sharp and the focus on ‘golden hour’ in Collins. Ropartz even pays homage to the Pyramid of the Louvre with her image of Collins Place atrium and its finely chiseled shapes.
Don’t miss Ropartz’ works and their connection with France on her website by clicking here, or by taking a stroll down to Sofitel on Collins. the exhibition will emain until July 2022.
